Eye examination

The standard eye examination is laid down by our professional body and should include:

  • History and symptoms
  • Vision
  • Ocular movements
  • Basic field screening
  • Eye pressures evaluated using a tonometer
  • Internal and external eye examination using a high powered illuminated microscope
  • Best spectacle correction and measurements of best correction
  • Advice and the issuing of a spectacle prescription

1. Standard Eye Examination complimented by Digital Retinal Photography

This is the same as the standard eye examination, but includes a digital photograph of your retina in order to more easily detect, record and monitor subtle changes in the back of your eye from visit to visit.

2. The Enhanced Eye Examination

This will include all that the standard eye examination covers but additional procedures will be performed using the specialist equipment which enhances the early detection and monitoring of developing eye conditions such as glaucoma and most retinal conditions. The enhanced eye examination takes approximately one hour to complete.

3. Comprehensive eyecare scheme:

We have introduced this scheme for the benefit of our clients, who, for £9.95 or £8.95 with NHS help per month, by direct debit may become members of this scheme. This entitles the client to the enhanced eye examination free of charge, access to the specialist instrumentation, and in addition, a 25% discount on all spectacles purchased including second pairs and sunglasses. There is a minimum period of 2 years membership but the benefits start immediately on joining
